Preference Function Modelling: The Mathematical Foundations of Decision Theory
We establish the conditions that must be satisfied for the mathematical operations of linear algebra and calculus to be applicable. The mathematical foundations of decision theory and related theories depend on these conditions which have not been correctly identified in the classical literature. Operations Research and Decision Analysis Societies should act to correct fundamental errors in the...
متن کاملAvoiding MCDA Evaluation Pitfalls
One is not required to be a mechanical engineer to drive a car and, considering the advanced state of mechanical engineering, most people limit their interest in what lies “under the hood” to finding a competent mechanic. Users of evaluation, risk, and decision analysis tools that are based on classical decision theory should be aware that, as is demonstrated below, classical MCDA (multi-criter...
متن کاملA survey on non conventional Preference Modeling
In the paper a survey on non conventional preference modeling is presented. Some philo-sophical discussion on the logic and foundations of human preferences is presented as the firstattempt to provide an axiomatization of the subject. The use of preference models in decisionaid however introduces such parameters to put serious questions to the possibility to build acomplete norm...
متن کاملMultiple utility constrained multi-objective programs using Bayesian theory
A utility function is an important tool for representing a DM’s preference. We adjoin utility functions to multi-objective optimization problems. In current studies, usually one utility function is used for each objective function. Situations may arise for a goal to have multiple utility functions. Here, we consider a constrained multi-objective problem with each objective having multiple utili...
متن کاملSearching for the Origins of Schwab's Deliberative Curriculum Theory in the Thoughts of Aristotle, Dewey and Habermas
The main purpose of this study is exploring the roots and foundations of Schwab’s deliberative theory in curriculum. Therefore, after examining this theory in introduction, its foundations and origins were investigated. According to this, basic assumptions of this theory are practical and quasi practical arts, eclectic arts, commonplace and collective decision. Aristotle’s distinction between i...
